AZEK Decking Potentially Defective
CLG is investigating claims for a class action suit involving AZEK Building Products, Inc. The Pennsylvania-based company may have sold deck material that experienced staining, scratching, and discoloration less than a few years after installation. AZEK, who acquired Procell Decking Systems in 2007, manufactures "Ultra Low Maintenance Decking." AZEK advertises that its deck boards limit "the shortfalls associated with traditional wood and composite decking so that you can enjoy your deck without worry." However, consumers have experienced aggravation and dissatisfaction after spending tens of thousands of dollars on defective AZEK and Procell decking material.
Multiple consumers complain of staining, fading, scratching, and discoloration in the deck material after only minimal use. Yet, AZEK explicitly advertises that its deck materials are "stain resistant," "scratch resistant," and "durable and long lasting." To remedy the problem, AZEK sometimes sends a maintenance crew to clean and condition the defective decks. Still, consumers complain of distorted sheen and additional staining just weeks after the maintenance. Ultimately, AZEK half-heartedly honors its "Limited lifetime warranty" by forcing consumers to pay $60-$100 out-of-pocket on conditioner to treat the deck each year without the help of a maintenance crew.
If you or someone you know has purchased deck material from AZEK or Procell and has experienced similar defects, please feel free to contact us.
